Workshop on Industry 4.0 based on advanced Nuclear Decommissioning Technologies
On November 29th Dr. Helge Knobbe, Head of Industry Service at TÜV SÜD Korea, was invited as a speaker to the international workshop focusing on Industry 4.0 – based advanced Nuclear Decommissioning Technologies hosted by the Hanyang University, Nuclear Decommissioning Industry Technology Research Association (NDIRA) and the National Research Foundation (NRF). The workshop brought regulators, industry and academia from Korea, Italy, Taiwan, Japan and Germany together to discuss the latest trends in decommissioning worldwide.
Dr. Helge Knobbe’s presentation on “Latest Trends in Decommissioning in Germany and the EU” attracted wide interest from the participants. The presentation included spent fuel loading and storage practices in Germany as well as an introduction to the in Germany used CASTORS for spent fuel storage.
The second part of the presentation focused on the application of 3D laser scanning in the decommissioning process and gave a short outlook on the work done at the ROBDEKON Center of Excellence. ROBDEKON is a Consortium of research organization and industry under the lead of the Fraunhofer Institute of Optronic, System Technologies and Image Exploitation IOSB.
The workshop facilitated vivid discussions about the status and challenges of decommissioning in Korea and lay the foundation for further national and international cooperation in this field.
