TÜV SÜD and Visionplus signed MoU and organized a seminar for the development of wind energy
On the 19th of July, TÜV SÜD and Visionplus organized a joint seminar about Engineering for Offshore wind farm development in design and Project Financing phase. Leading experts from the offshore wind industry from Europe and Korea were invited as speakers and shared their knowledge and experience during the full day seminar in The Plaza Hotel in Seoul, Korea. Additionally, TÜV SÜD and Visionplus signed a Memorandum of understanding with the promise to cooperate closely with each other for the development of the wind energy business.
The seminar started with an introduction about the new partnership between TÜV SÜD and Visionplus for the development of Korean wind energy projects. The first speaker Mr. Nigel Crow, Business Line Manager for renewables focusing on wind energy of TÜV SÜD talked about “Owner’s engineering services for offshore wind power plant” and “Turbine evaluation/selection criteria and procedure”. Furthermore, he shared his experience about the construction of European offshore wind power plant projects.
Visionplus presented a reference remote sensor wind cube (LIDAR) by Mr. David Pepy of the French company Leosphere. Mr. David Pepy described LIDAR and talked about service, installation and system configuration on wind farms and floating islands. Supported by Paul Kim, Deputy General Manager of Visionplus, the audience has been able to get an insight about LIDAR.
After the seminar was successfully finished, Mr. Wolfgang Hock, CEO of TÜV SÜD Korea and Mr. Hyo-Sik Kim, CEO of Visionplus signed a business agreement for the development of wind energy. “With TÜV SÜD´s global capabilities in the wind power sector and Visionplus’s good network and reputation in Korean wind energy market, both companies will be able to expand business here” said Mr. Wolfgang Hock.
