TÜV SÜD Korea held “IEC 60335-1 standard and OSM / HA explanation” seminar successfully
Recently, electronic products have been made smaller and various applications have been developed and commercialized, so the convenience for life has been improving. However, risks such as, fire caused by ignition in products, electric shock, and injury, are also increasing. Therefore, the importance of compliance with safety standards of electronic products has been emphasized.
On November 2nd, TÜV SÜD Korea Consumer Product Service (CPS) held a free seminar on "IEC 60335-1 standard and OSM / HA explanation" at Yeouido Financial Investment and Education Center. Home appliance development and production companies are now required to apply IEC 60335-1 (Safety of household and similar electrical appliances) in practice that had been revised in May of 2016, so the seminar was held to guide through their questions on the application of IEC 60335-1.
IEC 60335-1 (Safety of household and similar electrical appliances) is a standard that applies to devices, including both household appliances and commercial appliances, which have potential risk on public. Therefore, in order to safely design and manufacture household and commercial equipment, IEC 60335-1 standard must be applied.
Manufacturers and laboratory personnel from various electric appliance manufacturing companies, including Samsung Electronics, LG Household & Health Care, and Daewoo Electronics, participated in the "IEC 60335-1 standard and OSM / HA explanation" seminar and they were showing their interest throughout the seminar. TÜV SÜD specialists have introduced new and updated requirements on the △ IEC 60335-1: 2010 amendments △ Class III devices, battery electrical appliances △ software evaluation (an Annex to IEC 60335-1) and △ OSM / HA 2016 & 2017.
This seminar on the newly revised specification about the safety standards for household appliances is expected to enable customers to respond more quickly on product manufacturing and market entry.
