TÜV SÜD KOREA, official testing partner of Korea ESS Battery industry
TÜV SÜD Korea, Korea Battery Industry Association(KBIA) and Korea Conformity Laboratories(KCL) signed an agreement for strategic cooperation to support the development of the Energy Storage System (ESS) industry in Korea. The MoU was signed on June 12th, 2017 in Seoul. Through this agreement, the three organizations are aiming to improve the Testing/Inspection/Certification infrastructure for ESS in Korea and to strengthen the competitiveness of the Korea’s ESS industry.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Kyung-sik Kim, President of KCL, Mr. Jung Soon-nam, Vice-president of KBIA, Mr. Stefan Rentsch, CEO of TÜV SÜD Korea, and representatives of these organizations. At the ceremony, the MoU partners assured consensus on the necessity to improve Korea’s ESS battery Testing/Inspection/Certification environment. They also shared their expectations regarding the establishment of their cooperation and partnership in the spirit of this MoU to support the ESS Industry in Korea.
Through this agreement, TÜV SÜD Korea will be designated as an official testing partner in Korea and is currently the only international TIC player to join this network. Being part of this promising network we expect additional business opportunities for our testing business, as ESS companies in Korea are required to obtain certificates/test reports (referred below) in order to qualify for governmental subsidy. Additionally, we expect TÜV SÜD Korea to become a major certification partner for the local industry supporting with ESS battery certificates for both domestic and international markets, offering global market access for the success of Korea’s ESS companies - from a single source.
