INMETRO published an amendment to prohibit the certification and sales of toys containing the chemical substance 1,4-butanediol. 1,4-butanediol is used as an adhesive solvent on small colourful beads or dots.
Australia: The ACCC seeks comments on the review of Mandatory Standard for bunk beds
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) launched a public consultation regarding the mandatory safety standard for bunk beds to ensure effectiveness and assess whether there are more effective ways to achieve same level of safety.
Japan: Japan Toy Association publishes New Toy Safety Standard ST2016
Japan Toy Association publishes the new Japan Toy Safety Standard ST 2016 on 1 February 2016 and will be effective starting from 1 April 2016. During the transitional period, both standards are accepted for the ST certification mark.
The AS 4777.2:2015 was published on 9 October 2015 and it specifies requirements and test for low voltage inverters. All PV inverter safety certificates must be updated to include this new version of the standard by 9 October 2016.
